How This Grade Calculator Works
The Weighted Grade tab multiplies each assignment's percentage score by its weight, adds those together, and divides by the total weight entered — the same formula teachers use to compute a course average. The Final Exam tab solves that same equation in reverse to tell you what you need on one remaining exam. The Quick Grader tab is built for scoring a stack of papers fast: enter the question count and number missed for an instant percentage and letter grade.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my weights don't add up to 100%?
Leave every weight field blank and the calculator falls back to a simple unweighted average. If you enter some weights, the result is normalized against whatever total you've entered, so partial-semester grades still come out correct.
Does this store or send my grades anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs locally in your browser with plain JavaScript — nothing is uploaded, logged, or saved.
What grading scale does it use?
The standard U.S. 0–100 scale with plus/minus letter grades (A+ down to F). Individual schools vary slightly, so check your syllabus if your institution uses a different cutoff.
