❓ Frequently Asked Questions
To add GST: Total = Original Price × (1 + Rate/100). For example, at 18% GST: $1,000 × 1.18 = $1,180. GST Amount = $1,180 − $1,000 = $180. Our calculator does this instantly — just enter the price and select the rate.
To remove GST from a GST-inclusive price: Original = Inclusive Price / (1 + Rate/100). For example, $1,180 at 18% GST: $1,180 / 1.18 = $1,000 original. GST Amount = $180. Use the "Remove GST" tab to do this instantly.
GST (Goods and Services Tax) and VAT (Value Added Tax) are both consumption taxes. GST is used in India, Australia, Canada, NZ, and Pakistan. VAT is used in the UK and EU. The calculation method is identical — only the name and rates differ by country.
